Girl Online

by Zoe Sugg

” And maybe one day, when we realize that we all feel the same,

we can all stop pretending we’re something we’re not. “

** This particular blog post is being hosted by my 14-year old daughter. Any and all content is in her own words and as such, belongs to her. Quote was pulled directly from Girl Online, by Zoe Sugg.

If you are a teen (or have a teen) and you want to be engrossed into a good book, then try Girl Online. Girl Online is the first book written by YouTube beauty phenomenon Zoe Sugg (or her YouTube name Zoella). Girl Online is one of three books, and Book One got me, a teen, hooked.

Penny Porter is a 15-year old living in Brighton, England. After a horrifying problem that happens at her school drama, Penny thinks that her life is over. She then starts to blog about her life and problems that every girl has at some point. One problem that Penny has is anxiety. Penny feels like panic attacks rule over her life, which if you suffer from anxiety, then you know it really can rule your life and how you live it. Penny’s life changes forever when her family goes to New York City for a wedding job her mom is getting to organize for Christmas. While in New York Penny meets Noah, a musician. Over the following days, Penny and Noah start to slowly fall in love, but what Penny doesn’t know is that Noah has a secret — he is a famous pop-star and is supposedly dating the famous Leah Brown.

Penny has a little secret that she keeps from Noah as well; she has a blog and he’s the “Rock-God-Tastic” guy that Penny’s been talking about. Penny ends up finding out about the Leah-Brown-Girlfriend thing, but that ends up being fake news, so Penny and Noah become boyfriend and girlfriend.

Meanwhile, Penny’s friend Megan gets real jealous of Penny and tries to bring her down, so Penny’s life changes when Megan exposes her relationship to the public news. When Penny and her family go home, her ex-boyfriend Ollie sees a picture of Penny and Noah and tells her who Noah really is — that he’s a famous pop-star.

I give Girl Online a 4 out of 5 stars, because the way the story is told is that even when your life has bad situations, something good can come out of it. The story ends with an extraordinary ending about learning lessons that not everyone is “trusting” and that everyone has secrets.

Girl Online is a suite of books, and all three have been beautifully written by Zoe. Have fun reading as much as I did! The Girl Online series is as follows:
